Our story

From a family stall in Saigon, since 1975

Chef Đặng Thị Nguyệt grew up in Phnom Penh and learned to cook by watching the chefs she worked beside from the age of 13. In 1975 she opened a small stall in her in-laws' house in Saigon's District 3, selling hủ tiếu Nam Vang.

Today there are three Hồng Phát restaurants in Vietnam, and the District 3 flagship has held a Michelin Bib Gourmand every year since 2023. Our family-run kitchens in Vancouver and Richmond carry the same tradition to Canada.
